Jesse Marsch has told Thursday’s press conference – as per the club’s YouTube – that new Leeds signing Georginio Rutter is likely to start for the club on Saturday when Leeds travel to Accrington Stanley in the fourth FA Cup round.
Rutter, 20, remained an unused sub as Leeds drew with Brentford on Sunday. It was always going to be likely that our new club-record signing was given a watching brief by Marsch. But at 0-0, and Leeds pushing, he might have come on.
The French star is exciting. In 64 appearances, around half of which were starts at Hoffenheim, he had a hand in 19 goals. To have cost the club a fee of £35million including add-ons, Rutter can be trusted to play at the highest level.
Asked if Rutter could feature on Saturday, Marsch said that there is a high probability that Rutter starts for Leeds this weekend. Whether or not he has made a decision yet remains to be seen. But, Rutter looks likely to get his chance.

“Georgie has looked good in training. There is a high probability we start with him. He has impressed in training, an intelligent guy and by being in Germany, he understands the principles. I’m excited to get him going,” Marsch said.
Marsch: New Leeds signing Rutter likely to start at Accrington Stanley
It is the perfect opportunity. While the FA Cup is hugely important to Leeds and the club’s fans, Accrington are a few levels below Leeds. It gives Marsch the opportunity to play a few fringe players – or even, a new signing like Rutter.
Leeds will need players that can create something and Rutter, in the Bundesliga, has shown he is more than capable of that. A bit of flair, speed, ability to score in front of a low block – which Accrington are likely to enforce on Saturday.
