Jermaine Beckford has shared his instant reaction to Leeds United’s dramatic win over Leicester City on Friday night, with the Whites moving to within six points of the Championship summit.
For most of Friday’s clash, an abject defeat looked to be on the cards. Leeds were poor in so many ways for the large majority of the game. But Connor Roberts‘ late equaliser sparked a remarkable turn of events.
Archie Gray‘s deflected effort found its way into the back of the net shortly after to put the home side in front against the league leaders.

And after Daniel James‘ deflected free-kick also went in, seemingly off Patrick Bamford, Leeds were in dreamland. And suddenly, fans are dreaming of a title race.

Speaking on Sky Sports (broadcast on 23/2; 9:58), Jermaine Beckford suggested that he simply could not sum up what he had seen in the minutes leading up to the full-time whistle.
“I can’t. It was incredible and it just shows how much of a fortress this place is. And everything that Leeds United have been able to achieve so far this season, this calendar year is absolutely remarkable. So I’m lost for words especially after the last 15 minutes,” he said.
Title race may just be alive
For much of Friday’s game, it appeared that Leeds were about to replay the 3-1 defeat to Norwich City when Daniel Farke was in charge of the Canaries. Ultimately, the Whites did not turn up on that occasion and were outplayed.
And it seemed that a similar outcome was on the cards tonight. But, following the introduction of the likes of Roberts, Patrick Bamford and Daniel James, Leeds were able to find a way to pick up a huge result which will give the side enormous belief heading into the final stages of the campaign.
Perhaps, top spot is not beyond the Whites just yet.
