Jermaine Beckford has told Leeds United’s Matchday Show that Joe Rodon has done “wonders” since joining the club from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer, praising the Welshman’s “leadership qualities”.

Rodon, 25, has starred for Leeds – keeping four clean sheets in his seven starts for the club, in defence. The Wales star has formed a wonderful partnership in the middle of the back line with Pascal Struijk.

Leeds have four wins in their last six in the League, pushing Daniel Farke’s men into the top six as we enter the second international break of the season. Rodon has been absolutely central to that form.

Rodon has been exceptional – proving why Tottenham spent £15m to sign him in October 2020. Now, Beckford has given his verdict on the Leeds defender – saying he has improved Leeds at the back.

“He had a situation where he was sent off, shouldn’t have been given. Can see the leadership qualities that he brings. Him and Struijk have a great relationship. Done wonders, keeping it all tight at the back.”

Rodon has done wonders for Leeds since joining from Tottenham

With Robin Koch leaving the club, Leeds had to bring in a right-footed central defender that could aid our hunt for an instant return to promotion and Rodon has been that man. A Premier League player.

One that if Leeds do end up gaining a place back in the Premier League come the end of the season, then we will really need to consider a permanent move for the centre-back. He will be key to our push.
