Jermaine Beckford told Leeds United’s Matchday Live show he has been impressed by Jaidon Anthony since the winger came to Leeds – when discussing Daniel Farke’s strength in depth at Elland Road.

Anthony, 23, joined Leeds in the final few minutes of deadline day when Luis Sinisterra decided to jump ship and move to Bournemouth. It ended up being a loan swap, Anthony replacing the Colombian star.

It has proven to be a good move. Sinisterra is offering very little in a poor Bournemouth side, while our new winger is giving us a real weapon from the bench. He is pushing to start regularly under Farke.

Anthony has featured in every game since joining Leeds, making seven Championship appearances in a row. But, only once from the start. On Saturday, he came on for the last six minutes and made an impact.

Indeed, his run allowed Crysencio Summerville to cut inside and curl home a winner for Leeds – securing a 3-2 comeback over Norwich City, pushing Leeds to third. Beckford praised Anthony before the game.

“We have strength in depth. Jaidon Anthony is one of those players I’m referring too. This guy has been fantastic every time he has made an appearance. Got a goal, which will do his confidence wonders.”

Beckford impressed by ‘fantastic’ Anthony since coming to Leeds

Just having Anthony on the bench will give Leeds confidence that if things are not going to plan, they have a player that can really make a difference at this level. He has shown that while with Bournemouth.

A player with bags of speed, flair, skill and creativity – and the goals and assists to match. Prior to his move to Leeds, he had a hand in 15 goals in 50 games for Bournemouth in the Championship. Decent.

Leeds host Stoke on Wednesday and it will be interesting to see who Farke picks. Perhaps, a rest will be given to some players. Anthony, and of course Willy Gnonto, will be pushing for starts against Stoke.
