Javi Gracia has told Friday’s press conference – as per Leeds United’s YouTube channel – that defender Max Wober has returned to training after picking up a hamstring injury and could be available to play against Liverpool.

Wober, 25, has been a mainstay of the Leeds side since joining the club from RedBull Salzburg, reuniting with Jesse Marsch. He has formed a solid partnership with Robin Koch – conceding 11 goals while on the pitch in his 13 games.

But the Austria star has been sidelined since picking up a hamstring injury in his country’s 4-1 win over Azerbaijan in Euro 2024 qualifying. It has seen him miss the 4-1 loss to Arsenal, the win over Forest and the defeat to Palace.

It has been almost a month since Wober last played for Leeds, the 4-2 win over Wolves. Gracia was pushed to give an answer on the left-footed defender in his press conference – and said Wober is potentially available for Monday.

“To be honest, I don’t know yet. He’s training some days with the team. We have two more days before the game, and we have to see during the next few days,” Gracia told Friday’s press conference, as per the club’s YouTube.

A return for Wober would be a massive boost for the Whites as we enter the last eight games of the Premier League season. If Leeds are going to stay up, we need Wober fit and firing for the remaining 24 possible points this season.

Leeds will be without Tyler Adams and that defensive shield in midfield is missing. So, it means having the best at the back available is key. Even if Wober is only 80% fit on Monday, Gracia has got to give him 60 minutes at least.
