Javi Gracia has told Friday’s press conference – as per the Club’s YouTube – that Leeds United ace Luis Sinisterra will be out for the rest of the season after picking up an ankle injury in Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw with Leicester.

Sinisterra, 23, picked up an injury inside the first half on Tuesday night – moments after scoring his third goal in five Premier League games to give Leeds the lead. It is another injury for the Colombian, who has been riddled this term.

Indeed, the Raphinha replacement has shown glimpses of quality. But, he picked up an injury in pre-season, and then one towards the end of the year. It has limited the winger to just 22 appearances in all competitions for Leeds.

In that time, he has scored seven goals including five in the Premier League. But after his injury against Leicester, there was a worry that Sinisterra could spend another spell on the sidelines. Now, Gracia has given an update.

“Luis will be out for the rest of the season. No, I don’t think so [a repeat of previous injuries]. It is something in his ankle, to do with his ligaments,” Gracia told Friday’s press conference, in what is another huge injury blow for us.

Javi Gracia: Leeds ace Luis Sinisterra out for the rest of the season

With Tyler Adams also likely to be missing for the remaining five games – while Max Wober is not in training and is still a big doubt for Sunday’s clash. So, losing Sinisterra, who was showing some genuine form, is a massive blow.

Leeds need all the players they can muster available to Gracia. But even more importantly, those that are showing some genuine form in a side that looks lacking in confidence. Sinisterra was one of those, but he is now out.

Crysencio Summerville replaced him in the week, while Willy Gnonto and Jack Harrison are also options on the flanks. Sinisterra’s absence though, is a massive loss and Leeds are a worse side without the £70k-a-week man.
