Jamie Carragher has told Monday Night Football on Sky Sports that he thinks Everton and Leeds United can still win another four points from their remaining matches – which may be enough to guide both to Premier League safety.
Following Saturday’s draw with Newcastle, Leeds sit on 31 points in the table – still firmly in the relegation zone. But Liverpool’s win over Leicester on Monday night will certainly provide Sam Allardyce and Leeds with some hope.
It leaves Leicester in 19th, while Leeds are a point from safety – behind Everton. Forest sit three above Leeds but arguably, have the toughest run in – facing Arsenal and then a trip to Palace. Leeds take on West Ham and Spurs.
West Ham are playing in the Netherlands on Thursday, in a European semi-final. Spurs’ form has been incredibly up and down of late. Carragher believes Leeds could snatch four more points from their last two games this season.
“I think Leeds and Everton can get four points, from those games. I really do. Forest might get a point but looking at the fixtures, I would say that Everton and Leeds’ look okay,” Carragher said, on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football.
Jamie Carragher: Leeds and Everton can still win another four points
You would suggest that Forest have the toughest games. Arsenal at home, and Palace away. The latter are in superb form and it might see Forest fail to win another point – but then, one point from those two might keep them up.
For Leicester, after the loss to Liverpool – Newcastle away and West Ham at home could see them pick up points, but they are in the worst position of all four. If Leeds can get a win from the remaining two, then there is real hope.
