Joel Piroe scored the winner on Saturday with a well-placed left-footed shot as Leeds United secured a 2-1 win over Bristol City, Piroe netting his fifth – and Jaidon Anthony has a new nickname for the striker.
The striker came into the game after scoring four goals in his first five, but failing to find the back of the net in his last two matches. However, he was the subject of an impassioned rant from boss Daniel Farke.
Farke spoke for 13 minutes on the subject of Piroe, Georginio Rutter and playing in either the no.9, or no.10 role. Clearly, it worked. Farke proving to fans that they need to have a little faith in what he’s doing.
A win that sees Leeds go into fifth in the Championship table. A fantastic result against a side that will be pushing for the top six. Piroe took to Instagram after the win to underline his delight at scoring.
Piroe scores Leeds winner, Anthony has a new nickname for him
Piroe is now by some distance, the top scorer for Leeds this season – despite only playing in eight of our 13 games in all competitions. He joined Leeds with three League games played, not featuring in the Cup.
The Dutch striker is well ahead of the likes of Cree Summerville and Georgie Rutter. Pascal Struijk has three goals – but it shows just how impressive and quick a start Piroe has made to life at Elland Road.
Fellow summer signing Anthony has commented on Piroe’s Instagram post – with a new nickname. He replied with a play on words: “Goel Piroe”. Clearly, goals are Piroe’s forte and we will need them.
