As far as Premier League games go for Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier, Tuesday night was a pretty quiet one for the Frenchman as Leeds beat Nottingham Forest 2-1 – but he was still praised from Jack Harrison on Instagram.
Meslier, 23, clocked up his 121st outing for Leeds on Tuesday night. Meslier could do little with Oriel Mangala’s shot, but that was about all Forest had to shout about as Leeds dominated form there on in. Leeds had 74% possession.
Jack Harrison equalised soon after Mangala’s opener after Keylor Navas parried Marc Roca’s long-range strike, and Luis Sinisterra made it 2-1 in first-half injury time with a curling effort. A massive, massive win for Javi Gracia’s men.
Meslier enjoyed a quiet night and for a Leeds goalkeeper, that is a rarity given two and a half years of almost three seasons at Leeds have been under Marcelo Bielsa and Jesse Marsch. Meslier posted on Instagram after the victory.

Meslier has been a constant, again, in the Leeds side. The youngest goalkeeper to ever reach 100 Premier League games. If you look at the Leeds side, only a handful of Leeds United players have been absolute regulars all season.
Robin Koch at centre-back, Tyler Adams – but only before his hamstring injury. Harrison, wherever he is used. The in-form star has been used in a number of positions – on either flank, as a 10 or in central midfield. Meslier, too.
For a goalkeeper of 23, it must be remembered that his longevity in this Leeds side is an astonishing feat. Harrison described his display as a “masterclass”, while Gray was also impressed – replying to Meslier’s post on Instagram.
