In comments reported by Leeds Live, Marcelo Bielsa has confirmed that Kiko Casilla will make his Leeds debut this weekend. The January signing replaces Bailey Peacock-Farrell, who has endured a mixed season.
Despite doing well against Stoke, it is no surprise that the youngster will miss out on Saturday. There have been a handful of mistakes this term, and Casilla arrives with a big reputation.
And Bielsa did not hide the fact that he was not entirely happy with Peacock-Farrell’s form. While he insisted that the Northern Ireland international is going to be a top player in future, he suggested that his performances have not been up to standard.
And it’s one particular comment that Bielsa made that perhaps hints that Peacock-Farrell could be in for a frustrating spell.
Bielsa suggested that the stopper is fantastic in training, but does not produce those same levels in games.
Given that, it is difficult to see Peacock-Farrell working his way back into the side unless there is an injury. If he cannot do much more in training, how is he going to prove he deserves another chance?
Unfortunately for the youngster, he is perhaps now relying on Casilla picking up an injury or making mistakes if he wishes to get another go anytime soon.
