Leeds United have a number of players ready to jet off and represent their countries over the next two weeks.
Having made the decision to represent Dominican Republic, Junior Firpo became the first international call-up earlier this week, with Liam Cooper (Scotland) and Leeds‘ Welsh quartet having since followed.
Ethan Ampadu, Joe Rodon, Dan James and Connor Roberts face a one-legged play-off against Glen Kamara’s Finland next week for a chance to play either Poland or Estonia in a European qualification final.
In an interview with Wales Online, Wales manager Rob Page has been speaking highly on Leeds’ Welshmen, with the three who have been here all season having been huge for Daniel Farke.
However, Page wanted to particularly single out Ampadu for praise having been handed the armband at Leeds recently, stating at just 23, he is already a role model for club and country.
Page hails Leeds’ Ampadu as a role model
He said: “He’s captain of Leeds at the minute. A big club. He can play a multitude of positions. His attitude is first class. He’s always got a smile on his face. He leads by example on and off the pitch. He’s a model pro, and definitely a future captain.”
This is not the first time Ampadu has been hailed as a role model recently, with Rodon having said similar in an interview earlier this month for the way he has seamlessly slotted in as captain at Leeds.
At just £7 million, Ampadu has proven to be one of the best pieces of business Leeds have done in years, starting the season in midfield, while now excelling at centre-back.
Clinton Morrison said after his man of the match display at Sheffield Wednesday last week that Ampadu can go to the very top, and hopefully that is with Leeds.
After the season he has had, Ampadu undoubtedly deserves to be playing Premier League football and he will have a big part to play for that to happen.
