Javi Gracia has dropped a hint surrounding Willy Gnonto and the Leeds United winger’s game time in Friday’s press conference ahead of Sunday’s clash against Bournemouth – stating that he is sure Gnonto will get his chance.
Gnonto, 19, has failed to start a single League game for Leeds since the win over Wolves before the international break. He was injured for Arsenal, an unused sub against Forest – came on against Palace, Liverpool and Fulham.
On Tuesday night, he was left on the bench despite Leeds desperately needing a goal. Luis Sinisterra has now been ruled out for the rest of the season. So, it is much more likely that Gnonto is included in the starting XI, or as a sub.
Leeds fans are desperate for Gnonto to start – Jermaine Beckford described his omission as “bizarre”. Gracia was asked about Gnonto’s lack of minutes, and Gracia said Gnonto will be given his chance to show how good he is.
“He is an exceptional player with an amazing character. It is a blessing to work with him. I have to choose what is the best. On Tuesday we chose Crysencio. In the next games, I’m sure Willy will have chances to show how good he is.”

With Sinisterra now out, Gracia has a decision to make. If his normal 4-2-3-1 , he will have to choose between Rodrigo and Brenden Aaronson in the 10 role – and Jack Harrison, Crysencio Summerville and Gnonto out wide.
Harrison is in good form and he is a no brainer to start. Rodrigo played well before being withdrawn on Tuesday just before the hour mark, meaning he will have 30 minutes more energy in his legs. But surely, it is time to start Gnonto.
Perhaps, pushing Rodrigo back up top in place of Patrick Bamford after his miss, playing Harrison in the 10 role and having Gnonto and Summerville on the flanks gives Leeds the best attacking chance to go to Bournemouth and win.
