Jon Newsome has commented on the impact Patrick Bamford had after coming on for Leeds United during the frustrating draw with Rotherham on Friday night.
Newsome was speaking on BBC Radio Leeds (broadcast on 24/11; 21:59) after Daniel Farke’s side ended up missing the chance to go within five points of the Championship’s top two.
Patrick Bamford came off the bench during the second-half as Leeds looked for a second wind after a difficult time after the break. The Whites had been in cruise control before the home side equalised right before the interval.

Bamford was unable to help Leeds bag a winner. He did have an effort from distance. And he was also involved, but offside for Jaidon Anthony’s disallowed goal late on.
It was not exactly an evening in which Bamford seemed to put real pressure on the likes of Georginio Rutter and Joel Piroe. However, Jon Newsome believed that the 30-year-old actually played well when he came on.
“I’ll be honest with you, I thought there was more of an impetus and a bit of a difference when Patrick Bamford came on,” he told BBC Radio Leeds.
“He stretched the game. He ran in behind a few times and made it more difficult for the Rotherham players. Maybe that’s something that Daniel Farke’s got to bear in mind.”
Plenty for Daniel Farke to think about
It has been a difficult season for Bamford to date. He is still awaiting his first goal of the campaign after missing the start due to injury.
Bamford did have that penalty miss against Stoke. And he has had to be patient when it comes to getting chances.
However, Piroe had a really disappointing evening against Rotherham. And Rutter did not look fully fit, particularly as the game wore on.
So there may be an opportunity for Bamford when Leeds face Swansea. Certainly, it was a night which would have left Daniel Farke with plenty to ponder with the Whites quickly looking to be out of ideas in the second-half.
The good news for Leeds is that they have players with the ability of Willy Gnonto, Bamford and Jaidon Anthony to bring on.
More often than not, the side will be able to find a way to win. That just was not the case on Friday.
