If Orta still wanted 27-year-old at Leeds, Saturday should throw any plans in the bin

Leeds United’s 4-2 win over Wolves was a huge step in the right direction towards Premier League safety – but for Victor Orta, it might have seen him reconsider a possible move for long-term Leeds transfer target Adama Traore.

Goals from Jack Harrison, Luke Ayling, Rasmus Kristensen and Rodrigo was enough to see Leeds secure a brilliant away win. A bit of deja vu about it, too, given Leeds won 3-2 at Molineux last term – under American Jesse Marsch.

It sees Leeds rise to 14th in the table, after going into the game in 19th. The chance of Premier League survival now looks promising – but things can change quickly. Meanwhile, Orta will be planning for the summer’s transfer window.

Spain star Traore played at Middlesbrough during Orta’s time at the Riverside. Leeds are constantly linked with the Wolves man – and his deal ends in June. In January, TeamTalk said Orta was positioning Leeds to bring in Traore.

But if Orta was watching on Saturday and he surely will have been, any plans to sign Traore should be shelved. The winger entered the field of play on 57 minutes. But he had little, to no impact. Then, in injury time, he lost his head.

He completely downed tools as Marc Roca – who played the whole game – put him under pressure on 97 minutes. The smallest of pulls on his shirt was in Traore’s mind, enough for a foul. But to the ref and others, obviously not.

By that time, Crysencio Summerville had picked his pocket and played in Rodrigo who finished superbly to score his 13th goal of the season. Traore’s attitude should be in question and our fourth goal is a prime example of that.

So, if Orta was planning to bring in Traore on a free transfer in the summer – Saturday’s involvement in Rodrigo’s goal should end any chance of that happening. Leeds pride themselves on good morale and attitude at Elland Road.
