If £30m reports are true, Leeds are in win win situation with midfielder this summer

Leeds United have a relegation release clause in the contract of midfielder Tyler Adams and a report says it is worth £30m with the club now relegated – and surely, that places Leeds in a win win situation regarding the USA skipper.

Adams, 24, endured a season full of ups and downs. Impressing having joined the club for a fee of £20m at the start of the season, he was named in USA captain for the World Cup in Qatar. He starred during the winter tournament.

But with Leeds trying to stave off the threat of relegation, he lost arguably the main reason he joined Leeds in the form of Jesse Marsch. Then, a hamstring injury in training required surgery and kept him sidelined for the season.

Now, the ex-Leipzig midfielder is likely to leave Leeds this summer. The club will need to sell a number of assets in order to keep the financial state of the club in a decent position. Adams is likely to be one of a number of casualties.

According to Bola Vip, there is a £30m relegation clause in his deal. It puts Leeds in a win win position. Of course, we would love to keep Adams at Elland Road this summer. He is the ideal kind of midfielder for the Championship.

But, if Leeds are to sell Adams, then only cashing in on the midfielder for a £10m profit just a year after buying him is still a decent fee. It gives us plenty of cash to bring in a replacement, and save a bit to help Leeds remain afloat.

So, Leeds have put themselves in a solid position with Adams. That is of course, if they do not decide to sell him for a fee beneath the clause. A £30m fee, or keep Adams. It would see us have to sell others, but Adams might be key.
