Ian Poveda has posted a three-word message to Leeds United fans on Instagram after returning to action for the club during Wednesday afternoon’s 2-0 loss to Manchester United in Oslo – last playing for us back in May 2021.
Poveda, 23, last pulled on a Leeds shirt competitively more than two years ago – coming on as a substitute in a 4-0 away win over Burnley, a game in which the departing Rodrigo scored a brace. He has since been on loan twice.
He went to Blackburn during 2021-22, managing just 10 games before a terrible leg break. He returned to fitness for the 2022-23 season, to join Blackpool – scoring three goals and laying on two assists during 26 Blackpool outings.
Having been linked with a move to the MLS over the last few transfer windows, Poveda reminded Leeds fans what he is capable of on Wednesday. He started against Manchester United on the right, and produced a solid display.
Following the match, he posted a three-word message on Instagram – underlining how long it has been since his last outing for Leeds. The winger has entered the final 12 months of his deal at Elland Road, future is up in the air.

The ex-Manchester City star has a real chance of making a shock return to the fold under Daniel Farke. The German starting Poveda is a sign that he might be given a go next season. Largely, because of the future of our wingers.
Crysencio Summerville, Willy Gnonto and Jack Harrison are all likely to be sold. Luis Sinisterra could also go, but he did start on the other flank against Manchester United. Georginio Rutter will play out wide, while Dan James is back.
But there is a glimmer of hope emerging for Poveda to come back into the Leeds fold. It will be interesting to see if there are any developments regarding Poveda’s future, when Leeds take to the field on July 22 against Monaco.
