‘I have seen’… Glen Kamara has noticed £7m Leeds player is always helping Georginio Rutter in training

Glen Kamara says Patrick Bamford is always looking to help Leeds United teammate Georginio Rutter in any way he can.

Kamara was speaking on the latest episode of the Official Leeds United Podcast, where he was asked about how he himself looks to help out the young players as one of the more experienced members of the squad.

However, rather than speaking about his own examples, Kamara singled out Bamford for praise with the way he is constantly looking to provide support for Rutter.

Bamford is still yet to start a single game for Leeds this season after picking up a hamstring injury in the final pre-season match of the summer at Hearts.

Since his return to the squad, Bamford has been reduced to seven consecutive substitute appearances, but that has not stopped him looking to help those around him.

Kamara praises Bamford for Rutter support

Kamara believes while it could’ve been easier for Bamford to take a back seat due to his lack of minutes, the way he has looked to help Rutter is indicative of the Leeds squad.

He said: “Everyone helps everyone here. I have seen Pat talk to him a lot, just giving him advice, what to do in and around the pitch, which is nice. I’m like OK, that’s good. Pat’s been there, done that and even though Pat isn’t playing as much, he could just be sitting on the side not saying much.

“But Pat is out there like ‘come on, today’s game be careful if you do this, or that, or in and around the box’. I think that is nice, giving him advice, looking to help him even though he isn’t playing much. It just shows what kind of team we have here.”

Since his £7 million arrival from Middlesbrough in 2018, Bamford has always been the main striker whenever he has been fit and available.

So, with that in mind, it is only this season where he has taken far more of a peripheral role, but it is good to hear he is looking to support the team anyway he can.

Rutter is clearly benefitting from the advice he is receiving from a player who has been there and done it in this league, so full credit to Bamford.
