Andrea Radrizzani has apologised for the way his time at Leeds United ended but believes he has left the club in ‘good hands’.
Radrizzani was responding to a Leeds supporter on his personal Twitter account, where he took responsibility for a number of mistakes, but insists he is confident the club will have a ‘bright future’.
San Francisco 49ers Enterprises completed their takeover of the club from Radrizzani’s company Aser Ventures last week, bringing an end to his six-and-a-half year spell as chairman.
The Italian helped bring some of the best football in recent years to Elland Road but tarnished his legacy at the club with a number of poor decisions in the final couple of seasons.
Radrizzani is now set for a new adventure in football following his takeover of Serie B side Sampdoria after completing his sale of Leeds seven days ago.
Radrizzani apologises to Leeds fans
The 48-year-old was responding to a Leeds supporter on Twitter, who wanted to show his appreciation to Radrizzani for his time at Leeds.
Radrizzani said: “We had three years of exciting football with Marcelo and historical moments for the club.
“I am sorry it didn’t end as I wanted and I disappointed you all. We did mistakes and we paid a big price for it. I am sure the club is in good hands and have a bright future.”
This is good to hear from Radrizzani as ultimately, much of the responsibility of the last few seasons lays at his door.
His position at Leeds by the end of his spell became very much untenable but appears as though he has accepted the mistakes he made over recent years.
Everyone can now move on from the situation and based on the 49ers’ first few days as majority shareholders, it does feel as though he’s left Leeds in good hands.
