Huge 7-0 win on debut for 27-year-old man after Leeds exit, plays entire 90 minutes

Robin Koch made his competitive debut for Eintracht Frankfurt on the weekend after leaving Leeds United on loan to join the Bundesliga side – and he played 90 minutes as the German outfit ran out 7-0 winners over Lok Leipzig.

Koch, 27, is one of a number of Leeds players to have left Elland Road on loan this summer. It comes after clauses were included in the contracts of Leeds players that in the event of relegation – they could leave Leeds temporarily.

Brenden Aaronson, Diego Llorente, Rasmus Kristensen, Marc Roca, Max Wober and now, even Jack Harrison have all left Leeds on loan. The latter joining Everton. Koch is in a slightly different position – with his deal ending in 2024.

It means that a season-long loan has ended his Leeds spell. He will spend this season with Frankfurt and then leave on a free, likely signing for Frankfurt. On Sunday, he played 90 minutes on debut as Frankfurt got off with a 7-0 win.

Frankfurt fielded a surprisingly strong side in what was the first round of the DFB Pokal. World Cup final hero Mario Gotze, World Cup finalist Randal Kolo Muani and Germany goalkeeper Kevin Trapp all started alongside Koch.

It actually took until the 43rd minute for Frankfurt to break the deadlock – and it was Koch that laid on an assist. A neat pass out to Kolo Muani who powered an effort at goal from a tight angle, deflected into the net by the keeper.

A good start for Koch at Frankfurt then. Certainly, if he needs to convince them over a permanent signing come the end of the season – Sunday was a solid base to build on. Harrison is expected to join him today in leaving on loan.
