Leeds United can move within touching distance of Premier League promotion if they defeat Oxford United this week.

It’s Easter Weekend, meaning Leeds United will compete in a Championship double header over the next four days, starting with a trip to Oxford United.

After a worrying wobble, Daniel Farke’s side took the ascendancy in the Premier League promotion race last week with successive victories over Middlesbrough and Preston.

Meanwhile, Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United collapsed as they suffered three defeats in a row, including against bottom side Plymouth Argyle.

That left a five-point gap in the Championship table between first and third, meaning, depending on how results fall, Leeds can secure promotion as early as Monday.

They most likely will have to defeat Oxford for that to happen, though, and here is everything you need to know about the fixture.

Oxford vs Leeds United team news

There’s good and bad news for Leeds ahead of the weekend’s fixtures.

Joe Rothwell will remain sidelined for both matches, however, Farke has revealed Dan James could feature against Oxford and will almost certainly be available for Stoke City on Easter Monday.

Speaking ahead of the game, the manager said: “Joe Rothwell will definitely miss this weekend’s game. We hope to have him available for the last home game against Bristol City. With Dan James, it looks slightly better.

“It is fair to say at this stage we will probably have him available for the Monday game. If he can play against Oxford? Late decision. Likely, he is available on Monday, trying everything we can.”
