Leeds United finally announced the signing of Connor Roberts on Thursday night after the deadline had passed – taking the contingent of Rob Page’s Wales team to four at Leeds under Daniel Farke.
It was well past the deadline when Leeds finally confirmed the news of Roberts on Thursday night, with the Burnley defender joining Leeds on a straight loan until the summer. There’s no permanent option.
But, Roberts has made it clear that he could sign permanently come the summer – or at least, extend his loan. It sees Roberts reunite with his old Swansea teammates Joe Rodon, Dan James and Joel Piroe.
His Wales teammate Ethan Ampadu, as well as Patrick Bamford – the duo sharing time at Middlesbrough back in 2017-18. Wales posted on their Official Twitter, hilariously reacting to the arrival of Roberts.

Leeds desperately needed to sign a full-back. After losing Luke Ayling, Djed Spence and Leo Hjelde during the January window, bringing in a right-back – or a left-back – was crucial. In comes Roberts.
Ben Godfrey was always a bit ambitious. Links with Mason Holgate, Joe Worrall, Harry Souttar and Paul Dummett never got past links – with plenty of talks ongoing on deadline day. Roberts was the one.
He joins on a six-month loan but is quite clearly keen on joining beyond that temporary spell. On paper, he looks like a top signing. He has had a hand in 35 goals in 173 career appearances in the second tier.
Roberts will wear no.33, taking Hjelde’s number. He will not be available to play against Bristol City on Friday, and is cup tied next week for the trip to Plymouth. Rotherham next Saturday, could be his debut.
