Roy Keane said in 2020 that Joe Rodon had a “bright future” after watching him impress in a draw between Tottenham and Chelsea – and finally, his prediction is ringing true as he shines for Leeds.

Rodon, 26, has been excellent for Leeds since joining the club on loan from Spurs. The Wales star has helped Leeds win 10 times in his 16 appearances for the club, becoming a key part of this Leeds side.

It comes after Rodon joined Spurs in 2020, as a promising talent for the future. He starred in his first Premier League start for Spurs, helping them draw 0-0 with Chelsea, coming up against Olivier Giroud.

Keane told Sky Sports after that game three years ago that Rodon has an exciting future ahead of him: “He did very, very well. He spoke well after the game. He got lucky, he gave one or two opportunities.

“Particularly at the end there with Giroud, who should do better. But a good debut for him, he spoke well and it looks like he’s got a bright future ahead of him,” Keane said back in 2020, about the Leeds man.

Roy Keane prediction about Joe Rodon now ringing true at Leeds

He said that at a time where Rodon was still a young player, still learning his trade and finding his feet. Since, two tricky years at Spurs and an indifferent loan at Rennes have followed. Now, he is at Leeds.

His form for Leeds is finally heeding Keane’s prediction about him. Rodon has become a pivotal part of this Leeds side, one of the first names on the team sheet. His block on Saturday secured three points.

If Leeds are to gain promotion this season at the first attempt, Rodon will play a massive part in that push for a return to the Premier League. Promotion may be key in signing the defender permanently.
