Willy Gnonto says he is not surprised by the form of Leeds United teammate Crysencio Summerville this season.
Gnonto was speaking in an interview with LUTV ahead of Leeds’ trip to Leicester City this evening, where he was asked about his relationship with Summerville, as well as his recent performances.
The two players have struck up a great partnership both on and off the pitch since Gnonto’s arrival at Elland Road just over 12 months ago.
While Gnonto was seen as the leading talent for much of last season, it is Summerville who has started this term in red hot form, having scored six goals and provided four assists already.
Four of those goals have come in Summerville’s last two starts, including at Norwich City, where he almost single-handedly won Leeds three points from 2-0 down.
Gnonto says Summerville can get even better
Speaking on the form of his 22-year-old teammate, Gnonto believes Summerville can still get even better with the mentality and quality in which he possesses.
He said: “He is a great player, a great talent – but I’m not really surprised [by his form]. I think he can do even more than this. He has the quality to do it, he has the mindset. He is good both mentally and physically. So, I want him to keep going and if I can help him then I will do it.”

Last year, Jesse Marsch claimed that Gnonto’s arrival at Leeds helped Summerville settle down at Elland Road, and whether that is true or not, there is no denying how good he has been recently.
Summerville can cause any defence in this division problems and the numbers which he has started to produce over the last few weeks reflect that.
At 22, Summerville still has plenty of room to improve but hopefully Gnonto can see what his teammate has done in recent matches and begin to produce that himself.
