Times journalist Henry Winter has reported on Twitter that Leeds United fans were chanting “Marcelo Bielsa” towards the end of their 2-0 defeat to Leicester City on Thursday evening at the King Power – in what was a woeful defeat.
Leeds came into the game after a spirited defeat to top-of-the-table Arsenal on Sunday. It gave fans hope that Leeds might be able to get something out of a clash with the complete opposite. Leicester were sitting bottom of the table.
But Leeds were played off the park. Tactically, physically, in both attack and defence. Outfought, and out-thought. An own goal from Robin Koch pretty much summed up the entire performance, before Harvey Barnes scored again.
Winter was at the King Power reporting for The Times, and the widely-respected journalist took to Twitter to share what the Leeds fans were chanting. In what is pretty damning towards Jesse Marsch, Bielsa’s name was sung.

If the pressure was not already on our American gaffer, it certainly is now. The memory of a 3-0 win over Chelsea and seven points from the first nine is long gone. Nice football and pretty touches are just not doing it at the moment.
Leeds are struggling to score, and failing to defend. The Whites look miles off it and now, without a win in seven games. Just two points and without a win in two months. Something has to give – but Marsch will surely get time.
But how much more time will the gaffer get? Who knows. But if Leeds continue in this way, he is not going to get much. He has to make a change in terms of tactics, personnel, formation, something. Bielsa chanted, is damning.
