Leeds United star Tyler Adams has told Thursday’s US press conference that Victor Orta will be in Qatar to watch the World Cup – with the Leeds sporting director informing Adams by text he will be watching from the stands.
Adams, 23, will take on Wales on Monday in a group that, in terms of FIFA rankings, is the closest in quality. England are obviously favourites to win Group B, but it is not be as easy as many are predicting. USA face Wales on Monday.
Then, on November 25, England take on USA – and then USA will face Iran. It is expected that Iran, Wales and USA will be fighting for second. All will be taken in by Leeds sporting director Orta, who Adams says will be in Qatar.
Indeed, Adams was asked about Orta in Thursday’s press conference. He replied by stating that Orta has text him to say that he will be travelling to Qatar to watch the World Cup – and will meet Adams to chat after USA’s games.
“He continues to push me, we have constant contact. He text me two days ago saying he is coming to Qatar, he’ll see me after the games as well. The support and the contact was one of the reasons why I chose to go to Leeds.”

Intriguing. Orta will obviously have his hands full in the next couple of months, when the January transfer window kicks in. It might be that the main reason the Spaniard is attending the tournament, is to scout various players.
But of course, he will also be watching Adams and Aaronson star for USA. Potentially, Orta might also be watching Rasmus Kristensen feature for Denmark, the other Leeds player in action, who faces France, Tunisia and Australia.
