‘Unbelievable’: Ben Parker says Leeds have a youngster that is ‘so unique’, but needs to score more

Ben Parker has told Thursday’s episode of LS11 that Leeds United star Georginio Rutter can get even better if he starts to score goals – but has been blown away by the “unique” Frenchman this season.

Rutter, 21, has been sensational for Leeds. A tricky six months to begin with at Elland Road, joining the club in the midst of a relegation battle. Unable to speak English, and a young player in a new country.

That has all changed. Rutter is now pretty fluent in English, and he is starring in a Leeds side that are pushing for promotion, expected to win most games. He is being given the license to shine in attack.

Rutter only has two goals this season, but has five assists and often, is the man winning the ball back in midfield and then supplying the likes of Cree Summerville, Dan James and other Leeds attacking stars.

Ex-Leeds defender Parker was asked what he thought of Rutter and he gave a glowing verdict of our club-record signing – saying he is “so unique”. He said the only thing he can improve, is scoring more.

“He does things, I don’t know how. He is so unique. Can’t remember a player like him. His style, his arms, legs are so long. Strong, change of direction is so quick. Skills. No wonder defenders haven’t got a clue.

“We get that clinical part to our game, these chances he’s creating – we’ll run out clear winners. He has been unbelievable this season. If he can chip in with goals, even better – keep doing what you’re doing.”

Rutter has been fantastic. The attacking heartbeat. While he might not have the goals or the numbers than Summerville or James are producing – his unselfish style is getting the best out of his teammates.

Leicester is next on Friday, at the King Power. A massive game that Leeds will do well to get something from. At this early stage, some have described it as must-win given Leicester are already so far ahead.
