Voetbal International reporter Suleymen Ozturk says Tottenham Hotspur should sign Leeds United star Pascal Struijk, as a replacement for Micky van de Ven – quoted by Dutch site Voetbal Zone.
Dutch defender van de Ven has excelled for Spurs during the first half of the Premier League season. But, in the first half against Chelsea on Monday night, he was forced off with a painful hamstring injury.
Spurs lack cover in the middle of defence and with Cristian Romero now banned for three matches, it promises to be a difficult spell for the London club. They will surely look to sign a player in January.
Struijk, meanwhile, has been superb for Leeds. The 24-year-old has played every minute of all 15 Championship games, captaining us in the last five matches. He has even scored three goals this term.
Leeds have conceded just 15 goals in those 15 games, keeping a very impressive six clean sheets – no mean feat in the Championship when games come thick and fast. Ozturk says Spurs should sign Struijk.
“Struijk had Jamie Vardy in his pocket on Friday evening,” says Öztürk. “He was very strong throughout the match, but also really decisive. I also thought it was very good in the build-up from behind.
“He is a complete and mature defender. Now that Micky van de Ven has been injured, I would like to give Ange Postecoglou some advice: Struijk can easily join the defence of Tottenham Hotspur,” Ozturk said.

Struijk will surely want to stay at Leeds come January. By then, van de Ven and Romero will be back in the starting XI at Spurs and ultimately, Struijk will struggle to get into Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs side.
Yes, Spurs will come as very tempting if the London side do ever decide to heed Ozturk’s advice. But, his game time will plummet. Struijk would be much-better advised helping us get promoted again.
Captaining Leeds, Struijk has the chance to become a real hero at Elland Road this season. He and a Tottenham player in Joe Rodon are excelling in the middle of the defence. He has a contract until 2027.
