Manchester United star Facundo Pellistri has told Uruguayan outlet El Pais just how thorough Leeds United legend Marcelo Bielsa is in his preparation – with Bielsa now boss of Uruguay’s National Team.

Pellistri, 21, won his 15th cap for Uruguay on Wednesday, during a 2-2 draw with Colombia. A match that also saw out-on-loan Leeds United winger Luis Sinisterra come off the bench, for the last 10 minutes.

It was Darwin Nunez that struck the decisive blow, scoring in injury time to make it 2-2. Pellistri has been a regular for Uruguay since the appointment of Bielsa – featuring in four of Bielsa’s five games as boss.

The £9m Old Trafford signing spoke after the match against Colombia and gave his verdict on Bielsa – who was sacked by Leeds back in February 2022, after nearly four years in charge at Elland Road.

“We all know the kind of coach he is, he doesn’t leave any details loose and has everything prepared. Sometimes we train many different systems to be ready for anything that happens,” Pellistri said.

It is nice to know, even coming from a player that plays at Old Trafford, that Bielsa has not changed his ways even in when in charge of a National Team. Bielsa has made a very solid start to life at Uruguay.

Wins over Nicaragua, Chile and Cuba have since been followed by a narrow loss to Ecuador and then this week’s 2-2 draw with Colombia. Next up for Uruguay and Bielsa, is Brazil on Wednesday evening.
