Harry Redknapp discusses whether Leeds United can still win the Championship title this season

Leeds United have the chance to climb into second place in the Championship table on Friday with a win at Bristol City – and Harry Redknapp says Leeds are still in with a shout of winning the title.

With Leeds sitting in third place, the Whites have a chance to reach 60 points from just 30 games if they can beat Bristol City at Ashton Gate. It would see them leapfrog Southampton and Ipswich into second.

The Whites have welcomed back Archie Gray from injury and will be confident of a win after four straight wins in the Championship. Leeds beat Liam Manning’s side 2-1 at Elland Road earlier in the campaign.

Leicester currently sit on 69, from 29 games. Ipswich are second with 59 from 28 and Southampton – who are in stunning form – have 58 from 28. The others have games in hands over Leeds, after tonight.

But, Redknapp told Football League World that he does not believe Leicester have the title wrapped up – and feels Leeds are a “danger” in the race for the title in what is a mini league between the top four.

“I don’t think Leicester City are home and hosed in terms of winning the division. Southampton are just relentless at the moment. I wouldn’t write off Southampton winning the whole thing,” Redknapp said.

“Leeds are a danger too. They’re very strong. The support they’ve got at Elland Road is up there with the best. They’ll definitely be pushing. Leicester, Southampton may need to look over their shoulders.”

Do Leeds have a chance? Even if they win tonight, there is still nine points separating Leeds and Enzo Maresca’s Leicester – and the Foxes will have a game in hand. But Leeds are not fussed about the title.

Leeds will just be desperate of automatic promotion. Finishing in the top two. Ipswich are seen as the horse that sets off early but will blow out of steam, while Southampton are starting to steam through.

Leicester look the safe bet to win the title and while as Redknapp says it is not done and dusted, it would take a big swing for another club to topple them. It might be between Leeds and Saints, for second.
