Graham Smyth has told his Yorkshire Evening Post Q&A article that if Crysencio Summerville decides to leave Leeds United – with his agent expected to be touting his name around – then Willy Gnonto may be tempted to follow suit.

Summerville, 21, has shown in glimpses just how much potential he has. Summerville’s best form came in the space of four games, scoring a goal in each of those games prior to the World Cup break. He’s played 31 times this term.

With relegation on the horizon for Leeds this weekend, Summerville could be one of those that are sold this summer to rake in some cash. Indeed, Summerville will feel he has shown he has the ability to shine in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Gnonto is attracting plenty of interest – with a number of Serie A clubs said to be looking at the 10-time Italy teen. Gnonto and Summerville are renowned for being best mates – and Smyth expects they could both leave.

“Summerville would be a good option in the Championship. Yet, I’d expect his agent to be casting around to see if there’s a better deal to be had. If Summerville was to go, would Gnonto want to? They are joint at the hip after all.”

Smyth says if Summerville leaves Leeds then Gnonto may follow suit

If Leeds can, they really should do their best to keep both players at the club. Both are young enough to afford to have a year or two in the Championship if Leeds go down. Gnonto more so, given he is only 19. But he has suitors.

Summerville will have less suitors than Gnonto and given he has only been first choice at sporadic moments in the season, the Dutch star might be better served remaining at the club this summer. Gnonto is more likely to depart.
