Leeds United have climbed into third place in the Championship table after a win over Sheffield United but it was second position for a short period, until Burnley’s win over Sheffield Wednesday.
Goals from Mateo Joseph and Pascal Struijk saw Leeds not only keep a sixth Championship clean sheet of the season. But it also saw Leeds send a statement to the rest of the league with the win on Friday night.
Sheffield United had not conceded a goal since August and were unbeaten under Chris Wilder going into Friday’s clash. But Leeds came out victors and were largely comfortable in picking up a fifth league win.
That win saw Leeds go into second, only for Scott Parker’s Burnley to then beat Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday afternoon. A 2-0 win, and one of Burnley’s scorers is a recognisable name to Leeds supporters.

Jaidon Anthony scores first goal since leaving Leeds in summer
Anthony played 38 times in all competitions for Leeds last season, but was largely used as a substitute by Daniel Farke. The winger had a hand in four goals, but only managed six starts for the Yorkshire outfit.
He has since returned to Bournemouth and then reunited with Parker, his old Bournemouth manager, at Burnley. On Saturday, he scored his first goal for Parker’s men in what was his seventh Burnley outing.
Glen Kamara and Connor Roberts react as Anthony scores goal
A mistake at the back by Wednesday saw Anthony latch on and finish well to give Burnley the lead, before Clarets skipper Josh Brownhill made it two as Burnley secured three points and went into second place.
Anthony took to Instagram after the match, posting with the caption: “the first”. It prompted reaction from two of his old Leeds teammates, both of which are no longer at Elland Road after also departing.

One of the two though, is now his current teammate in Wales defender Connor Roberts. The other was Rennes player Glen Kamara, with both clearly delighted to see Anthony get himself on the score sheet.
