Turkish outlet Fotospor claim Galatasaray have tabled a loan-to-buy bid to sign Leeds United defender Junior Firpo, with The Whites yet to provide a response – in what is a surprise move given the rivalry, and hatred between fans.
Back in 2000, Christopher Loftus and Kevin Speight were killed after watching a UEFA Cup game between Gala and Leeds. It has since seen Harry Kewell nicknamed ‘Judas’ by Leeds fans. Gjanni Alioski was also linked with the club.
But he received plenty of negative feedback on social media and has since instead moved to the Middle East, and going to Fenerbahce on loan. Now, Gala are looking to leave the past behind and do a deal with Leeds for Firpo.
Now, Leeds are expected to listen to offers for the ex-Barcelona man, who cost £12.75m in the summer of 2021. He has failed to live up to the large hype at Elland Road. Galatasaray have made a bid on loan, with a permanent clause.
The report says Leeds are yet to respond to the offer – but are open to an initial exit for Firpo. It is said that Leeds are willing to loan because Barcelona have a 20% share in Firpo’s next transfer. Another Victor Orta masterpiece.

Firpo needs to go. The report says Marseille have withdrawn their interest in Firpo, meaning Gala are currently the only club showing any kind of strong interest in the defender. But should Leeds do business with the SuperLig side?
Whatever point Leeds may try to make in terms of doing a deal with them – which, because of the type of the deal, means contact would have to be constant throughout a loan – will only garner criticism from fans. One to watch.
