Leeds United have announced the arrival of their sixth summer signing in the form of Luis Sinisterra from Dutch side Feyenoord – and judging by the reaction of fans from his old club, he might just be the most-exciting yet.
Sinisterra, 23, joins Leeds after four years with the Eredivisie club. But it was his final year in which he exploded. A huge 37 goal involvements in 49 games was crucial in Feyenoord’s path to the Europa Conference League final.
He joins Leeds in a near club-record deal, costing in the region of £25million – penning a five-year deal. It comes after the arrivals of Brenden Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen, Marc Roca, Darko Gyabi and Tyler Adams.
He is widely expected to be a replacement for Raphinha, who continues to interest Arsenal, Chelsea and Barcelona this summer. Much like Raphinha, the South American is full of goals, assists, creativity and tenacity.
Feyenoord fans reaction: Leeds have announced Sinisterra
Obviously, it is a blow to Feyenoord who are losing one of their best, if not, best player. However, the club are receiving a record fee – eclipsing the previous transfer which saw Dirk Kuyt join Liverpool.
With Leeds beginning their pre-season fixtures against Blackpool on Thursday night, Sinisterra is sure to be on the plane that jets off for Australia this weekend. It is unlikely the Colombian will feature tonight.
But Leeds fans will not have to wait long to see Sinisterra in action. Going by what Feyenoord fans are saying on Twitter, Leeds have bought themselves a gem with enormous potential that can become “world class”.
