Leeds United’s fanbase is known for our ferocity and passion when it comes to supporting Daniel Farke’s side – and Joel Piroe has told Dutch media that the fans make away games, feel like home.

Leeds are as far away from home as we are likely to be tonight, after earning a pretty unwanted replay against Argyle tonight in The FA Cup. The winner takes on Chelsea or Aston Villa, away from home.

Piroe is likely to be handed a start tonight after losing his starting spot in the Championship side, to the in-form Patrick Bamford. The one-time England man has been in superb form since the turn of the year.

Bought for £16m by Leeds last summer from Swansea, starting 24 of 28 games for Leeds and scoring 10 goals – creating one more. Speaking to Voetbal Zone, he shared what he’s noticed about Leeds fans.

“Playing at Elland Road is fantastic. The fans go wild from the first minute and are very fanatical. You notice hostility in a beautiful and sporty way. Sometimes away games resemble home games,” he said.

“Purely because our fans take over the entire stadium. As a player it is wonderful to experience. Or does the perception of our supporters create extra pressure? I don’t think so, mainly keeps me on my toes.”

Piroe has been sensational, at times. He has been asked to play out of position, but has still managed to get himself into double digits this season – even if he is the club’s designated penalty taker. Very solid.

While he might not be the perfect no.10, he is the long-term replacement for Patrick Bamford up top. His ability to finish is of Premier League standard – but he needs to be able to get involved for 90 minutes.

It could be a case of confidence – his winner in injury time at home to Preston will help. A goal against Plymouth tonight will help restore that confidence, and gain a roar from the travelling Leeds support.
