Four Leeds youngsters watched 21's on Monday, hinting they feature at Wolves

The YEP reports that Leeds youngsters Darko Gyabi, Willy Gnonto, Mateo Joseph and Leo Hjelde were all in attendance watching the 21’s on Monday – and their omission hints they could face Wolves on Wednesday in the Carabao Cup.

Leeds take on Wolves in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night at Molineux. A game that sees two Premier League sides come together, in different form. Wolves have won just one of their last eight League matches.

Jesse Marsch, meanwhile, ended an eight-game run without a win with victories over Liverpool and Bournemouth. The Whites will be buoyant and fancying their chances when they travel to the Midlands to take on Wolves at Molineux.

Leeds secured a 4-2 win over Newcastle on Monday, as Michael Skubala continues to guide his side towards Premier League 2 promotion from the second tier. But he did so without Gnonto, Gyabi, Hjelde and Joseph to choose from.

Leeds youngsters omission on Monday hints they could face Wolves

Gyabi and Joseph, certainly, have been regulars for the 21’s this season. A £5million signing from Manchester City, Gyabi has featured in all of Leeds’ PL2 fixtures until Monday. Joseph has been in sensational form for Skubala’s side.

Hjelde is a 21’s player and is back from an operation. He could give Pascal Struijk a rest on Wednesday, though the likelihood is that Junior Firpo is given a run out. Gnonto of course, starred against Bournemouth for 45 minutes.

He is likely to be seen as a first-team player now. But his entire omission from the 21’s this week is another sign that he could start against Wolves. So, with all four in attendance but omitted on Monday, the quartet could take on Wolves.

Indeed, they might not be the only ones, either. Sonny Perkins, a regular goalscorer for the 21’s was only used towards the end of the game – while Cody Drameh was taken off after 60 minutes. It looked like a pre-planned substitution.
