Former Leeds United star Raphinha named his best ever XI of players he’s played with

Raphinha played with some great talents at Leeds United as Marcelo Bielsa signed a gem for the Whites.

He’s proven to be more than a gem, as the Brazilian is now considered one of the best players in world football.

The Barcelona star had a brilliant two seasons in Yorkshire, despite Raphinha almost rejecting the Leeds move.

Nevertheless, he made the move, and Leeds received a £50m fee for their troubles of losing the talented winger, which in hindsight, could’ve been more.

Looking at the players he played with at Elland Road, Raphinha has decided on the best-ever set of players he’s shared the pitch with.

Former Leeds United star Raphinha named best ever XI

It’s quite apparent that the Brazilian is the world’s best, as Liam Cooper has tipped Raphinha for the Ballon d’Or.

Whether Cooper made it into Raphinha’s XI is another question, but Leeds fans will have to worry about whether any Whites players made it in.

You’d think that after Raphinha’s time at Leeds made him the player he is today, there would be a few former Whites teammates lurking. Well, you’d be wrong, as he revealed his thoughts via the print edition of Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte (06/12/22).

With Raphinha’s time at Barcelona taking centre-stage, the winger chose not to name a single Leeds player in his lineup.

The Brazilian’s other two clubs were Sporting Lisbon and French side Rennes, as even a few stars from his time there have made it, as Man United star Bruno Fernandes is named alongside Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets, and Ousmane Dembele, to name a few.

You’d think a few Leeds stars have been hard done by, despite the talent on display.

Former Leeds star Kalvin Phillips deserves a place in Raphinha’s XI

It’s hard to argue replacing the likes of Busquets and Fernandes in midfield, but Leeds fans will make a case for Kalvin Phillips.

During Raphinha’s first season at Elland Road, Phillips was arguably the most promising midfielder in the Premier League, and he showed that with his performances.

Phillips almost rejoined Leeds and a future could still be had for the midfielder in Yorkshire.

Raphinha, out of all people, would’ve known how good it is to play with a prime Phillips, and despite the Whites being the making of the potential Ballon d’Or winner, Raphinha finds no place for them.
