Alan Brazil has told Neil Warnock on TalkSPORT he thinks he will be offered the Sheffield United job, and Warnock has responded – with pressure mounting on ex-Leeds United boss Paul Heckingbottom.
Heckingbottom, 46, managed Leeds prior to Marcelo Bielsa’s arrival at Elland Road for 16 games. He took the Leeds job after impressing at Barnsley, but only managed four wins in those 16 matches.
Since then, he has managed Hibernian in Scotland before taking the Sheffield United job initially, as an interim manager in 2021. He has since lasted 105 matches in total, winning 51 games in that time.
He guided the Blades to promotion last season, second to Vincent Kompany’s Burnley. But this season, Heckingbottom has watched his side lose nine of 10 Premier League games – earning only one point.
The pressure is on Heckingbottom and there are calls for the Blades hierarchy to make a change. Brazil told Warnock, who managed Leeds between February 2012 and April 2013, he would be offered the job.

“You know you are going to get a call from Bramall Lane, it’s a certainty. Someone is in a job so I don’t like talking about that, but no win in 10. That would be hard to say no to, Neil,” Brazil told Warnock.
Warnock, who left Huddersfield earlier this season, is a legend at Bramall Lane – following on from his eight-year spell as boss, lasting 388 games. He responded by defending Heckingbottom on TalkSPORT.
“Paul Heckingbottom is doing a fantastic job and I don’t think anybody can do any better with what he’s had. He’s lost his two best players in the summer, there are all sorts of names being mentioned.
“I’m sure they are all trying to vie for the job. But I think the Prince will give him a few more games, me. Quite rightly so. I think he deserves it. Because he’s not spent a lot of money. I’m supportive of Paul.”
