Junior Firpo has been speaking ahead of Leeds United’s big clash with Leicester City at Elland Road on Friday.
The Whites go into the game second in the Championship but nine points adrift of their opponents, knowing that a ninth consecutive win could blow the race for top spot wide open.
It is arguably the biggest game of the season to date and Leicester defender Wout Faes is expecting an ‘amazing’ contest, particularly after their defeat to Middlesbrough last time out.
Friday nights under the lights at Elland Road often bring out the best of the Leeds crowd and in an interview with the Yorkshire Evening Post, Firpo was asked about the atmosphere he is expecting.
The 27-year-old says he has never been apart of a game like this and believes the home support will make it extremely tough for Leicester.
Firpo shares what he’s expecting from Elland Road
He said: “I expect a special atmosphere. I’ve never been in a game like I can expect on Friday night. It’s really important. I don’t know how many points were between them and us, like 17?
“But now if we win we will be six behind with 13 games left. I expect a really good Elland Road for us, but really hard for them. For sure it will make a difference.”
Leeds have had some memorable matches over the years on a Friday, with the 4-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion back in 2019 immediately springing to mind as special.
There will still be a long way to go in the battle for promotion after this weekend but another win would give Leeds an enormous amount of momentum heading into the rest of the season.
Leeds remain unbeaten on home soil so far this campaign and they will be looking to use that to their advantage when the runaway leaders arrive in West Yorkshire this weekend.
