Florian Plettenberg has reported on Twitter that Max Wober will be announced as a Borussia Monchengladbach player on Monday – with Leeds United receiving a £430,000 fee. The loan is unlikely to include an option to buy.
Wober, 25, departs after playing just 19 times for Leeds last season – having joined the club from RB Leipzig in January. It saw him reunite with Jesse Marsch but the American lost his job a month later. Wober did impress.
The left-footed centre-back was arguably our best defender during the run in, in what was a dismal run of form and results. It was expected Wober would stick around for Leeds – but on the weekend, that proved not to be the case.
Daniel Farke said his surprise omission from the squad to play against Monaco was due to a transfer situation – and it now appears Wober is off to Farke’s old side. Plettenberg now reports he is set to join Gladbach on a loan deal.
The two sides, and player, have agreed a loan from Leeds to Gladbach for a nominal fee of less than £500,000. He is expected to move to the German side without an option, and a medical has been pencilled in over the next two days.

It is another example of Victor Orta rinsing Leeds. The Spanish technical director clearly included a clause which allowed players to leave on loan if their wages were paid in full. Diego Llorente and Rasmus Kristensen are at Roma.
Robin Koch at Frankfurt, and will leave next summer on a free – meaning Leeds have only received a loan fee. The one that could return to us is Brenden Aaronson, but Marc Roca’s move includes an option. Wober may also stay.
But for the next year at least, he will be off to Germany to play for Gladbach on a season-long loan. Leeds do have cover on the left side of central defence in the form of Liam Cooper and Pascal Struijk. But still, a big defensive loss.
