Middlesbrough boss Michael Carrick says Leeds United are a team full of “very good individuals” after watching his Boro side lose 3-2 at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon, in a brilliant game.
Goals from Dan James, Crysencio Summerville and Joel Piroe cancelled out a brace from Boro star Emmanuel Latte Lath, with all five goals coming in the first half of what was a topsy-turvy clash.
The drama didn’t stop in the second 45 despite there being no more goals, as Boro defender Anfornee Dijksteel was shown a second yellow card. Leeds held on to beat Carrick’s men, winning the game 3-2.
A win that sees Leeds keep pace with Ipswich and Leicester, who both picked up wins on Saturday – The Foxes beating West Brom in injury time, thanks to Harry Winks’ goal. Ipswich beat Coventry City, 2-1.
Carrick was speaking in his post-match press conference – as per Leeds Live – and he gave his take on Leeds in his summary of the game. He was impressed with a number of our players, on Saturday.
“Very good team with very good individuals. Boys stuck at it. There were loads of good things from it. Feel like we have let something slip. Frustrating to concede two so quickly. Half-blocked both crosses.
“They are good individuals and I cannot fault our lads. Given ourselves too much to do away from home. A team collective. If we can stop conceding away from home, we give ourselves a chance,” Carrick said.

There were some excellent performances all over the pitch. Archie Gray was exceptional on the right of the defence. Ethan Ampadu and Glen Kamara, solid as always in midfield. The attack were on fire, again.
Summerville, James and Piroe all netting – though the latter was perhaps, a bit quiet. Rutter will have been disappointed to miss some of the chances he did, having numerous efforts to score. But, a win.
