Luke Williams has been speaking ahead of his Swansea City side taking on Leeds United in Wales tonight – and the Swans boss has discussed whether Leeds are on a par with our promotion rivals.
Leeds will be looking to make it seven wins in a row in the Championship come Tuesday night, after a huge 3-0 win over Rotherham on Saturday. A Cree Summerville brace, and a Patrick Bamford finish.
One that earned criticism for the officials, from Rotherham boss Leam Richardson after the match. But, it counted and Bamford now has five goals since the turn of the year. Half of Joel Piroe’s entire total.
Swansea meanwhile, sit way down in the League in 16th place – but have arguably played better than their current league positions suggests. Leeds beat Swansea 3-1 at Elland Road, earlier in the season.
Speaking ahead of the match as per the Yorkshire Evening Post, Williams said he feels his side are now well prepared to take on the best teams in the division – likening Leeds to Leicester City and others.
“We have the chance to test ourselves. Southampton were incredible [against us in] Leicester were fantastic, what we learned in the Southampton game helped us to be more competitive,” Williams said.
“It was still nowhere near enough, but maybe we have learned from those two games. We are going up against an opposition with that similar type of quality. Maybe we are in a different place – but we’ll see.”

Leeds need to win every game, now. With 15 matches remaining in the Championship, and Southampton a point ahead having played a game less, it is now looking crucial that Leeds secure three points again.
We have to be near perfect if we are to go up in the top two, with Southampton unlikely to drop many between now and the end of the season. A win is expected against Swansea, but it will be no easy feat.
