Leeds United loanee Jack Harrison has come in for some criticism for his performance in Everton’s 1-0 win at West Ham United on Sunday.
As per the Liverpool Echo’s post-match player ratings piece, Harrison was ‘often’ wasteful in the final third, missing ‘two glorious’ chances in the first half.
Harrison has made a difference since his move to Goodison Park from Leeds, with Everton having won two of the three league matches he has started under Sean Dyche.
His full Premier League debut saw him both score and assist in a 3-0 win over Bournemouth, and despite the criticism for his performance at West Ham, again provided a telling contribution.
After wasting several chances to either score himself, or set his teammates up, Harrison provided the assist for Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s winning goal, with a neat little pass around the edge of the box.
Harrison criticised for Everton display
Harrison was handed a 6/10 by the Liverpool Echo for his performance with his lack of efficiency in the final third coming in for criticism despite his assist.
They wrote: “Jack Harrison – 6. Wasted two glorious chances in the first-half before setting up Calvert-Lewin for his goal. He worked hard, but too often he failed to deliver in the final third.”
Leeds fans will be familiar with the fact Harrison can blow hot and cold in a matter of weeks based on his five-year spell at Elland Road.
One week Harrison can look unplayable in the final third with incisive decision making and crossing, but others he can be really frustrating by taking too many touches.
Already at Everton he seems to be showing he has not yet removed that inconsistency from his game, but ultimately you cannot argue with his output. It’s now one goal and two assists in three Premier League starts – a very good record.
