Fabrizio Romano says ‘top-class’ Leeds player has now agreed deal to leave the club

AS Roma have agreed a deal to sign Leeds United defender Rasmus Kristensen.

That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who reports Roma are now poised to sign Kristensen with a loan agreement now in place on both the club’s and player’s side.

Kristensen will become the second Leeds player to make the switch to the Italian capital with Diego Llorente also having already joined on a straight loan deal.

A deal for Kristensen had appeared to be at an impasse at the end of last week, but a new round of talks on Tuesday brought an agreement closer, as per Gianluca Di Marzio.

Like Llorente, there had an initially been talks on including a permanent clause in the deal, though it is once again set to a ‘dry loan’, which will see him return next summer.

Leeds and Roma agree deal for Kristensen

Kristensen only made the move to Leeds from RB Salzburg last summer but on the whole, he struggled to adapt to the intensity of the Premier League.

He did enjoy some decent defensive performances in matches against Liverpool and Crystal Palace, with Noel Whelan describing him as ‘top-class’ following a defeat at the latter.

It was important for Leeds to get rid of one right-back this summer with three now on their books and ready to make an impact on the first team.

Kristensen’s exit will finally open the door for Cody Drameh to be handed his long-awaited chance in the first team, providing they can fend off Premier League interest in him.

He would become Leeds’ fifth major loan exit of the summer following Robin Koch, Llorente, Brenden Aaronson and Marc Roca, with the latter set to finalise his move to Real Betis imminently.
