Fabrizio Romano says player will now undergo medical at Leeds today with agreement finalised

Karl Darlow is undergoing a medical at Leeds United today ahead of his proposed move from Newcastle United.

That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who reports an agreement between the two clubs has now been fully reached, allowing Darlow to complete medical tests in West Yorkshire today.

Darlow has been Leeds’ priority goalkeeper target throughout the transfer window so far and it appears as though they will finally get their man.

The 32-year-old will become Leeds’ second signing of the summer following the arrival of Ethan Ampadu from Chelsea for a fee in the region of £7 million + add-ons.

Despite reports Newcastle had set an asking price of £5 million, Leeds are set to pay just £400,000 for the signing of Darlow, in what is an impressive piece of business.

Romano says Darlow to undergo Leeds medical today

Darlow will initially come in and provide competition for Illan Meslier, with Leeds yet to receive any concrete offers for the Frenchman.

Meslier is still expected to move on from Elland Road this summer but as things stands, Leeds will have two high quality Championship goalkeepers at their disposal.

Darlow will bring an abundance of experience to Leeds’ squad with him from Newcastle, having made over 200 appearances in England’s top two divisions during his career.

He is now set to sign in time for Leeds’ final pre-season friendly of the summer, which takes place in Edinburgh against Hearts on Sunday.

Darlow could then make his competitive debut for the club in Leeds’ opening game of the season against Cardiff City on August 6.
