Leeds United are among a host of clubs interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Edouard Michut.
That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who reports a deal will depend on the sort of fee PSG will command for Michut, who spent last season on loan at Sunderland.
He made 24 appearances in the Championship for the Black Cats, 12 of which came from the start, as they reached the Championship play-off semi-finals.
Sunderland did have an option to buy Michut permanently, though according to the 20-year-old, it was his decision not to return to the Stadium of Light.
Michut has also played eight times for PSG’s first team, five of which came in Ligue during the 2021/22 season under new Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino.
Verratti has previously claimed Michut is ready for PSG first team
Michut registered an assist in just his third ever game for PSG back in January 2022 in a 1-1 draw against rivals Lyon.
Speaking after the game, key midfielder Marco Verratti heaped Michut in praise and even labelled him as ready to make an impact in PSG’s first team.
Via Get French Football News, he said: “It’s nice, I think they [Michut and Xavi Simons] deserved their chance, they always train well. Mentally they’re ready, we saw it today. Édouard was decisive.”
To receive such praise from a quality midfielder like Verratti is of course a ringing endorsement for Michut, and certainly bodes well for if he does come to Leeds.
However, Michut perhaps did not have the impact he would’ve liked at Sunderland last season with only 12 starts, and so there are question marks from that as to whether he is suited to Championship football.
