Fabrizio Romano has told Caught Offside that Liverpool have sent scouts to watch Leeds United teen Archie Gray on a number of occasions – but no bid, or any formal approach has been made.
Gray, 17, has been excellent for Leeds this season since finally coming into the side. A long-awaited debut for the youngster, having starred in the previous pre-season – during Jesse Marsch’s reign.
This season, Gray has started 13 of our 16 Championship matches – coming on as a sub in two other games. He has also played three times for England’s U19 side, completing 90 minutes in all three.
That form has caught the eye. The Mail reported last week that Liverpool are pursuing a move, while Leeds have slapped a £50m price tag on his head. Everton and Crystal Palace are also keen on Gray.
Now, Romano has delivered an update. He claims that Liverpool have sent scouts to watch Gray on a number of occasions – whether that is him playing right-back, or in midfield. No bid has been made.
“Liverpool have sent their scouts to follow Archie Gray multiple times. Not the only club as many teams appreciate him and keep tracking. No bid or concrete negotiation at this stage, but they appreciate him.”

What will be a concern for Leeds and the club’s fans, is that Gray has a contract at Elland Road until the summer of 2025. Interest in Gray has got to see the 49ers take action, and hand Gray a long-term deal.
A contract that entices Gray, keeps him happy and puts interest in Gray at bay. Even if, it is a move that sees Leeds protect a valuable asset. Letting it go for much longer opens up the possibility of a move.
