Rangers defender Borna Barisic has emerged as a target for Leeds United this month and days after the reports that Leeds are keen, the Ibrox club have identified two potential replacements for him.
Croatia star Barisic has entered the final six months of his contract at Rangers and can now be signed on a pre-contract arrangement under the Bosman ruling. It would see clubs sign him on a free transfer.
Leeds were linked with the Europa League finalist last week – but are not alone, with clubs from Europe’s top-five leagues also looking. After the reports, Rangers have asked him if he’d like to sign a new deal.
However, in the event that Barisic does not want to extend his stay at Rangers – which has lasted since 2018 – then the Gers have now identified replacements for Barisic’s services, as per Football Scotland.
They come in the form of Benfica’s David Jurasek, who is struggling for game time in Portugal and may be allowed to go on loan. The other is Dinamo Zagreb’s Marko Bulat, who is rated at a fee of £5million.

Clearly, Rangers are preparing to lose Barisic. They could also lose Ridvan Yilmaz, but an offer made by Galatasaray for the Turkish star has been rejected. Barisic looks more in danger of leaving Ibrox, now.
If Barisic does not sign a new deal then Rangers will have to entertain selling him this month in order to bring in a fee for the Croatian, rather than losing him for nothing in the summer. Leeds will be tempted.
Leeds need a left-back after waving goodbye to both Djed Spence and Luke Ayling earlier this month. Sam Byram and Junior Firpo are renowned for having bad injury records, and more depth is required.
