Ethan Ampadu and Junior Firpo send hilarious dig to Leeds teammate after what he just posted on Instagram

Ethan Ampadu and Junior Firpo are both undoubtedly two of the biggest leaders in the dressing room at Leeds United.

At only 28, Firpo was Leeds’ oldest player in the win over Hull City and given he is now one of the club’s longest serving players, many of his teammates look up to him.

Ampadu, meanwhile, has been at Leeds for just 14 months but has already being named as Daniel Farke’s full-time captain following Liam Cooper’s exit.

The 23-year-old did take on the role during parts of last season when neither Cooper nor Struijk were on the pitch, which has seen him take on the responsibility of the armband permanently this term.

Based on their performances during the calendar year of 2024, both Ampadu and Firpo are thriving under the extra responsibility, but certainly leave room for a laugh and a joke off the pitch.

Ampadu and Firpo’s response to Mateo Joseph post

Mateo Joseph is among the players using Ampadu and Firpo as yardsticks to follow in how he handles himself as a footballer, and that has been reflected in his performances so far.

Joseph has one goal and two assists in the opening four matches of the season after being given the responsibility of Leeds’ first choice striker.

It is clear just how much his confidence has grown at Leeds over the last few months and not only has that been reflected on the pitch, but off it too.

Joseph has been regularly posting on his Instagram recently but not all of his posts are winning support from his teammates.

Just last month, Joseph posted a photo on his account with the caption, ‘from the pitch to the lens,’ which drew a hilarious response from Wilfried Gnonto.

Joseph made a similar sort of post onto his account on Tuesday night, too, which has drawn a bit of stick from teammates Ampadu and Firpo, who also see the funny side of his new style of posts.

What Daniel Farke said about Joseph after Hull City win

It is no surprise to see Joseph appearing so confident right now particularly after getting that all important first goal of the season against Hull City.

He missed big chances in both matches against Portsmouth and Sheffield Wednesday, and it was clear just how much he really wanted to get off the mark.

Farke was asked about the importance of Joseph getting the first one under his belt at the weekend and says he certainly has the potential to be the ‘main man’.

He said: “He definitely has instinct. Unfair to compare with others. To be the main man, you need to have a special character, talent; he has that but not finished product. We can speak when he has 20, 30 goals, not now.”
