‘Dream’: Georginio Rutter and Max Wober break silence after Leeds suffer relegation

Georginio Rutter and Max Wober have taken to Instagram for the first time since Leeds United’s relegation from the Premier League to the Championship – underlining their heartache at failing to prevent the club from going down.

Leeds are now preparing for a gigantic summer in which a takeover has to be renegotiated at Championship prices, the need for a new sporting director and manager – and a turnover of the squad that could reach double figures.

Wober was a key part of the side after joining the club in January, but a couple of injuries hampered his momentum towards the end of the season. Rutter, also signed in January, warmed the bench and only started one league game.

There is a scenario in which both players could stay at Elland Road this summer – or choose to leave Leeds and go back abroad. There has been suggestions that Rutter could go on loan to a French side. Both posted on Instagram.

Making a prediction on Rutter and Wober’s future is hard. It is fair to say that their futures are very much 50/50 this summer. Rutter, you could easily see staying and regaining his confidence in the Championship. He is still young.

Peter Crouch suggested he dips into the Championship, score a load of goals and come back to the Premier League with more confidence. But you could easily see Leeds organising a deal in which he goes on loan to a Ligue 1 side.

For Wober, again – it is easy to see him going to a Bundesliga club, or back to The Netherlands perhaps. But, having only just joined and still only 25 himself – he may spend a year in the Championship, having just moved his family.
