Dom Matteo has told LUTV’s Matchday Show that Jaidon Anthony has “made a difference” already at Leeds United and praised the winger for showing composure – something we lacked last season.
Anthony, 23, joined Leeds on deadline day in a loan swap with Luis Sinisterra from Bournemouth. The winger has already left a lasting impression, after scoring in his third outing of four – all of the bench.
Anthony netted in the 3-0 win over Watford, latching on to a wonderful Georginio Rutter assist before coolly finishing past Watford’s Daniel Bachmann. Over the years, Leeds have been wasteful in attack.
But Anthony showed composure when played through in the win over Watford and Matteo says that kind of ruthlessness in front of goal is something Leeds have been missing – failing to show it last season.

“Another player that come on, made a difference to the team. He’s got composure. Last year, we didn’t really have composure. I know it isn’t the Premier League, but that was a Premier League goal for me.
“His goal, he just guides it into the corner. A lovely finish. That is a player that knows what he is doing in that position. Like I say, we have options all over the football pitch. We looked a threat in that game.”
Matteo says Anthony has already made a difference at Leeds
Strength in depth and competition for places is always going to bring the best out of those in the XI. Following Saturday’s struggle, you might imagine that Farke will make changes against QPR this week.
Leeds host the Londoners on Wednesday and will be favourites to pick up a fourth league win of the season. It might be the perfect time to throw Anthony into the starting line-up, with Willy Gnonto out.
If he can show the kind of composure he showed while in front of goal against Watford, then there is no doubting that Anthony could get himself on the score sheet against QPR. A win is key, after Saturday.
